Common tests in Korean hospitals

Korean hospitals frequently run diagnostic tests. Knowing these terms helps you understand what's happening.

Blood and urine tests

혈액검사 (blood test) and 소변검사 (urine test) are the most common tests. Results often come back within hours.

Imaging tests

X-ray (엑스레이), CT scan (CT촬영), MRI, and ultrasound (초음파) are used for detailed internal imaging.

What to expect

For most tests, a nurse will guide you to the testing area. Follow their instructions and ask if anything is unclear.

Tip

For blood tests, you'll usually be asked to fast (금식, geum-shik) from midnight the night before.
